Ethiopian traditional crafts and culture

Celebrating Our Rich
Ethiopian Traditions

Ethiopia is one of the world's oldest civilizations, with a culture spanning thousands of years. We proudly carry these traditions to Tampa Bay.

Ethiopian coffee ceremony

The Coffee Ceremony (Bunna)

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. The traditional Bunna ceremony is a sacred ritual of community, hospitality, and connection — three rounds shared with neighbors and loved ones.

Ethiopian food gathering🍛

Food — Injera & Beyond

Ethiopian cuisine centers on injera, a spongy sourdough flatbread, served with rich stews (wot), spiced butters (niter kibbeh), and a dazzling array of vegetarian and meat dishes.

Ethiopian music and dance🎵

Music & Dance

From the Eskista — a traditional shoulder-rolling dance — to the Krar lyre and Washint flute, Ethiopia's musical heritage is joyful, expressive, and deeply communal.

Traditional Ethiopian clothing👗

Traditional Clothing

The white cotton habesha kemis and netela shawl, adorned with colorful embroidered borders, are worn proudly at holidays and celebrations as a symbol of cultural identity.

Ethiopian history and language📖

Amharic Language

Amharic — written in the unique Ge'ez script (Fidel) — is Ethiopia's official language. We offer Amharic language classes for children every Saturday morning.

Ethiopian faith and spirituality

Faith & Spirituality

Ethiopia hosts one of the world's oldest Christian and Muslim communities. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and local mosques are cornerstones of our Tampa Bay community.
